RISE - a Channel 4 Production Mentoring Initiative

Easy read, BSL and audio versions of this information are also available above.

RISE is an opportunity for deaf, disabled, and / or neurodivergent off-screen talent working in TV at a mid-career level or above. This could include people working in production management, editorial, craft and technical roles.

If the answers to these questions are “yes” then this could be the programme for you!

TripleC DANC is partnering with Channel 4 to deliver RISE, a nine-month mentoring initiative to support and elevate the next generation of senior off-screen deaf, disabled and / or neurodivergent talent in TV.

There are 6 places in total and the key to this initiative is that it is mentee-led. This means that we will take a step-by-step approach to building the programme around the needs identified by the selected mentees, including the type of mentor they want and the specific goals they want to achieve through mentoring.

Applicants may be working in any genre, scripted or unscripted, and in any type of off-screen role – production management, editorial, craft or technical. They must be mid to senior level – ie, have been working in TV for at least three years and progressed already in their career. For example, moved from Researcher to Assistant Producer or progressed from Production Secretary to Production Coordinator.

They must also be encountering barriers to further progression in their career, probably (but not necessarily) due to a lack of support around access and/or attitudes and understanding.

The overarching aim is for RISE mentees to be in a stronger position to move to the next stage of their career once they have taken part.

To be clear, this is not a scheme for entry into the TV industry. For any of those opportunities via Channel 4, please go to the 4Skills website.

Participants must be UK based.

What's Involved?

This is a remote/online scheme that will take place over Zoom. It runs from April 2022 to December 2022. Each participant will receive:

· 6 one-to-one sessions with their mentor;
· 3 group support sessions; and
· 6 training sessions/masterclasses.

TripleC DANC will facilitate access and support participants throughout the process. It is free to take part in the programme and mentees will be paid a set fee for their time spent in one-to-one sessions and group sessions. Access requirements will of course be catered for.

To be considered for this programme, please apply by answering the application questions, either via the online form below or via email to: applications.tripleC@gmail.com with RISE in the heading. The questions are listed in the East Read document which is available to download at the top of this page.

The closing date is Monday 14th February 2022, at 10am.

We are happy to receive applications in any format which is most accessible to you – eg, through the online form, written in an email or Word document, via a video in BSL or English, or in an audio file. Please just make sure that you cover all the questions set out below, including the equal opportunities questions. You will also need to include a recent CV to support your application. This can be uploaded below or sent by email.

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected] (TripleC will aim to respond within 3 working days).
