Charlie is a BAFTA and RTS award-winning screenwriter, director and Executive Producer, who has written for shows like Waterloo Road, Jimmy McGovern’s Moving On and Casualty, as well as creating his own series such as sketch show Deaf Funny and documentary series Found. Charlie is partially deaf and comes from a deaf family, and the focus of his career has been on deaf culture and issues – he is also the editor of the deaf blog platform Limping Chicken and has written journalism for the Guardian and BBC. Recently, Charlie has turned his focus to photography, taking portraits of prominent deaf and disabled talent, as well as production stills for a range of TV, film and theatre productions.
Charlie first came into contact with TripleC when attending a DANC event which led to Charlie joining the BBC Writers Room’s Writer Access Group. Since then he has worked with TripleC to deliver training to people in the TV and film industry and is one of our Access Leads for Deaf creatives.
